Privacy Policy
Overview
Nudge is a reminder app for Android. This policy describes what information the app accesses and how it is handled. The short version: Nudge does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. Everything the app stores stays on your device.
Information We Collect
Nudge does not collect any personal information. No account is required to use the app. No analytics, crash reporting, advertising, or tracking SDKs are included.
The app saves your reminders and preferences (reminder names, schedules, tone settings, quiet hours, streak data, and similar configuration) using local device storage (SQLite and SharedPreferences). This data never leaves your device and is deleted if you uninstall the app.
Permissions
Nudge requests the following system permissions:
- Post notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS) — Required to deliver reminder notifications. Without this permission the app cannot send you nudges.
- Schedule exact alarms (SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM / USE_EXACT_ALARM) — Required to fire reminders at the precise times you configure. Android requires this permission for apps that schedule time-sensitive notifications.
- Foreground service — Required to keep scheduled reminders running reliably while the app is in the background. Android requires foreground services to show a persistent status notification. This notification is informational only; no data is collected through it.
- Receive boot completed (RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED) — Required to restore your scheduled reminders after a device restart. Without this, all reminders would stop working whenever you reboot your phone.
- Activity recognition (ACTIVITY_RECOGNITION) — Optional. Used by Pro subscribers who enable the “suppress while driving” rule. Nudge reads the current activity state (driving, walking, etc.) only to decide whether to delay a reminder. This data is never stored or transmitted.
No other permissions are requested or used.
In-App Purchases
Nudge offers an optional one-time upgrade (“Nudge Pro”) available through Google Play's in-app billing system. All payment transactions are processed entirely by Google Play. Nudge does not see, store, or handle any payment card details or billing information. Please refer to Google's Privacy Policy for information on how Google handles purchase data.
After a successful purchase, Nudge stores a local flag on your device to remember that Pro features are unlocked. No personally identifiable information is stored as part of this.
Third-Party Services
Nudge does not integrate with any advertising networks, analytics platforms, or social media SDKs. The only third-party component used is the Google Play Billing Library, which is required to process in-app purchases and is governed by Google's own privacy policy.
Children's Privacy
Nudge is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. Because Nudge collects no personal data from any user, no special handling is required.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy is updated, the new version will be posted at the same URL with a revised “Last updated” date. Continued use of the app after an update constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
